I bought six. A compelling look at the American West during mid-century 1800s.

OK. I have to get to it. I have two small projects to bind. I'll walk the dog and do it after a nap, today. Maybe

ICE OUT! Over a hundred Vermonters came out to protest detention of their neighbors. Why I love the 802.

Snow on the mountain. It's been dry this year. Snow is late. Reservoirs for snow making are low. Stick season.

@maxperrymueller.bsky.social I had the pleasure of listening to Dr. Mueller discuss how Jesus came to be portrayed as white, especially in western cultures.

Olly missing his friend.

View from the She shed. Colts are changing a wee bit early in the 802.

We finally have the Singer 20U running with its new servo motor. Turns out you can't install a needle positioner on a 20U. Sigh. Prolly should get a V belt for it but this vinyl tubing works fine. Off it goes to our daughter so she can continue on her journey with art quilts.

What happens when you don’t pre-plan the design. So many threads to bury.

I have a favorite ruler for ruler work on my longarm. Today was a day for lots of ruler work. After I changed the bobbin, I could not find that ruler anywhere. I spent a good ten minutes looking. Finally I gave up and used another. And no, I didn't see it there until I needed snips from the caddy.

I heard the Juki running and saw this

I got her stitching. This 1906 Singer 27 needs more cleaning but I couldn't wait to get sewing. I definitely will make a quilt with it. Most likely I will use a vintage pattern and maybe some reproduction fabric. I love the little dance. #quiltsky

I finished piecing this quilt in January. I finished quilting it in June. I finally trimmed the loose threads, labeled it, and ran it through the wash today. I love it. Off to my friend tomorrow.

Olly hates fireworks. We are in the basement and he is on top of me. It’s gonna be a long night

I work better at the front of the longarm. I love pantograph designs. I suck at tracing. Today I set to work on a mystery quilt I finished in May. I don't love it. And as we all know, finished is better than perfect. #quiltsky

I truly don't dread it. I have zipper leaders that I chain stitch onto the backing. Then I float the batting and top. It might take a bit longer than pinning, but I love using a sewing machine. My Kenmore 1803 has a chain stitch function. It's satisfying to take out the chain stitch

What about an orange peel design? You could use a ruler on your domestic, or the longarm quilter could. Using a blending thread like a muted gold would keep the quilting quiet. I know a longarm quilter who swears by Omni gothic gold as a blender.

Pink enough?

Starting a chandelier quilt. Now that the colors are selected, it’s time to start making blocks.

I think I need narrower strips, and more of them. This is my next color scheme.
