The owl was enormous and beautiful: white feathers on its face & chest, grey brown feathers on its back and the top of its wings. We looked up species. It was an Eastern Barn Owl (east coast of Australia). It stayed for a little while and then left. Haven’t seen one since.

Definitely intriguing! A google search (because I’m supposed to be doing other things but this was way more interesting) didn’t provide many answers but I did find out that Houdini himself enjoyed debunking ghostly photos. Check out this old poster which is kind of wonderful
