It’s instructive that really good priority infrastructure for peds is often seen in private spaces and car parks. They realise the need to provide appropriate priority in those areas to keep people safer. Try do this in a public setting though and expect barrier after barrier and reasons for “no”

Nothing beats teaching the next generation of entitled drivers that it is absolutely acceptable to park your Landcruiser on a footpath and yellow line and obstruct the driveway to staff area AT A SCHOOL.

Sure, it’s past mistakes that have contributed to this but, in a city of 2m+ people, when the platform level view from the main station is of a car park directly adjacent and an exit for a 7 level car park directly above the station, it’s an indictment on so many levels.
