Not me who just realised that it's more cost effective to buy a LEGO(r) train set, keep the Powered Up elements for later and salvage the rolling stock from it than it is to outright buy a third party locomotive and motorise it yourself

Pardon me for wanting to save the formalities for the actual Special, but we seem to have surpassed 25.000 subscribers.

So, considering it is YouTuber tradition, if you have any questions regarding anything FlyingScott, please feel free to shoot your shot!

I found a Hornby Silver Jubilee train pack at a train fair, ripe for a bit of modification. And what a sight it is when the trains runs through the snow.

Being a train YTer isn't difficult by any means, but it does have its... Complications.

The layout is currently inaccessible, and I am struggling to record due to my voice. But don't fret, I have video ideas and scripts at the ready for when I feel a bit better.

In the meantime, have some OO. I still really like my Sonic Models A5, I hope they'll do more classes in the future.

You know there's enough gatekeeping going around internet hobby discussions as is yet I always have to withhold a chuckle when a Magic The Gathering or Warhammer player moans about how expensive their hobby is.

Lol.

Lmao, even.

When first delivered, I was touted as the next big step in express motive power. When my bogies began developing cracks barely a year into my introduction and my reliability plummeted below that of a steam locomotive, I was demoted to freight work.

Who am I... BR's Class 40 or NS' 1000? #Trains

Though not Britain's first Atlantics, they were the first class of 4-4-2s in revenue earning services Forever in the shadow of larger locomotives, they might as well been Sir John Aspinall's masterpiece. They certainly worked better than 4-6-0s!

So tell me, how would you describe the sound of a steam locomotive if you were not allowed to use "chugga chugga"?

Not since 15 years did this powerful steam locomotive traverse the Dutch national rail network. The Baureihe 50s were the most powerful locomotives ever operated by NS back in the 40s, and 50 307 put up a fine show at Den Bosch over the weekend.

Not going to lie folks, I'm kind of feeling through it where YouTube is concerned.

To try and raise spirit though, I finally started with a non-railway related project I've put off for months at this point...

I always rather liked Nigel Gresley's EM1s. Such a "steam era" take on an electric locomotive. They might not have been impactful, but there is beauty in their simplicity.

Post 1957, after the regions received some of their autonomy back, the Scottish region of British Rail adorned some locomotives with blue number plates and shed codes, as depicted on this Ivatt 2MT. The Midland region and Eastern regions followed suit, red and orange respectively.

I've not been doing too well in the social media game, which for a YouTuber, is abysmal. A few setbacks, plus a general feeling that I should focus more on videos than I have have sort of rendered me, for lack of a better term, at a loss for words.

With the withdrawal of the NS Class 1700s in December 2023, NS no longer owns their own road locomotives. Currently, NS are still running 4 unique types of train, the VIRM, SLT, SNG and DDZ. However, with Coradia sets now also being on order, the days of the unique NS trains are numbered.

The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway's no.2, 'Northern Chief' is styled after a Gresley Pacific. She was mechanically based on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway's no.7, 'River Esk', a 2-8-2.

Funnily enough, Gresley would later produce a locomotive as a 2-8-2 version of his Pacifics!

After 55 years, Efteling's 600mm locomotives are to be powered by electricity. No word has officially gone out yet whether it is a Swiss solution (see what I did there?) or a case of making the tender push a dead locomotive along.
