There's also the unfortunate fact that there's an awful lot of ignorant people in our country. They lack depth of personality and complexity of thought, so they adopt bigotry and racism.

I'm a freelance journalist on the side. Been published a few times. Most writers feel they need a catchy point of view. They have to have "hot takes." It's actually one of the big problems with media in general and why media isn't widely trusted. There's no nuance. Nuance doesn't get clicks.

We can definitely get off Twitter. But we do need to examine data driven lessons learned from this loss. An after action report is needed. We need to pick some hard hitting core issues, that bring tolerable people in the tent, and win!
