The basic premise of his response was fine... can't comment on what he hasn't yet seen.
His method of response...condescension, disdain and general prickishness totally unwarranted. He wants to lead the country. Maybe he can act like a leader and a decent human being to start.

The tariffs were seen as unwarranted - left people confused as to why Canada was being targetted. But not a huge deal. The 51st state rhetoric was too far. That p***ed people off. Subsequent remarks by American politicians reinforced the hubris.

I get the optics of removing the tariffs but from a practical sense, they are a tax on Canadians. We can continue to boycott purchasing American products and travel to the US and have a greater effect at less cost to us.
