A couple of weeks ago I was talking to a chap about Prest's Phantom book. He said it had inspired him to join the RAF, although just too late to fly Phantoms; he had to make do (not his words!) with the Tornado. As someone else has said, it's on a par with Richard Bach's Stranger to the Ground.
