Or possibly they want to be allowed to turn the detainees over to the military at Camp Lemonnier so the ICE agents can be brought home without their victims, but I doubt the military is going to go along with that. That could explain the bare minimum lodgings. "Don't get comfy, gents."

Yup, the Seth Michaud Emergency Medical and Dental Facility. Camp Lemonnier usually has around 5,000 personnel stationed there -- it's the largest US base in Africa. A press release from 2015 says they treat 10,000 patients a year.
There's a hotel on the base too, the Hotel Echo-Six.

This wouldn't have fixed the core problem with the sequels, which is that they didn't have a new story to tell so they just told the same one again but worse. They needed a new story backbone entirely and they needed to plan out the entire trilogy before starting to shoot the first one.

This is survivorship bias, though -- AKA the Toupee Problem. "Toupees are always awful, I can always tell when someone is wearing one!" "Vegans are always preachy and judgmental!" It's a very bad idea to look at the worst examples of a group and categorize that as typical.

I was fortunate enough to be able to see this years ago at a local non-chain theater on a full-size screen, with the intermission and all. Fantastic movie (obviously) but are people not allowed to enjoy and appreciate both this and Star Wars? What is your point?
