That sounds bad, but if we start quoting temperatures in kelvin it would only be a few percentage points above normal. It's all about perspective.

I personally go with "we're all going to die tomorrow unless you personally lower your carbon footprint, in which case everything will be fine", as I make all communication choices based on what would be most persuasive to a very stupid person rather than whether things are true or not.
