Yes, and it is also why there is never an end goal for people in these groups. They do not aspire to any future reality...because they can't comprehend one. They think only in immediate terms and solving the problems a single step ahead of them.

With his current mental state, I genuinely believe there is a journalist that could at this point glaze him into a blissful submission and get him to let on that they staged the Butler attempt.

It's also just a hallmark of the right's innate self-preservation. They own absolutely nothing, and always have multiple directions toward which they're ready to throw blame. It's a personality trait that extends back centuries and drives their ability to continuously rise from the swamp.

I mean, no offense, but this is largely the view of Americana for the rest of the world. A generally undereducated group that rarely experiences consequences of actions and has limited care or knowledge of other people of the world. Sadly the culture you have cultivated for yourselves.

As usual, international officials are being played because they're treating US reps as rational actors. They think: "Yes, we're working towards a solution!" — in reality the notes of this meeting will never hit the Oval, and the US can take comfort in a week or two without negative Danish commentary

Create a standardized grading system for all political reps and publish annually. Eliminate ability to trade individual stocks (obviously). Missing / skipping votes? Fines payable to your district. You could even conceivably raise the salaries of these folks significantly...

A partial platform that could be extremely popular with citizens (literally in any country) would prioritize elevating the standards political reps are held to. Publicly lie or misrepresent truth? Fines. Fail to uphold x% of promises you campaigned on? Fines and removal.

...and, since he readily acknowledges any fair midterm would be a bloodbath for his party, there should be motivation for them to do everything (Cuba, Greenland, ????) in '26. Strangely, it feels like the World Cup could be the biggest barrier to their desire to upend global order this calendar.

I feel so genuinely bad for them. They crave this world that 'left'-wing politics has delivered for most developed economies on earth but feedback loop themselves into this belief system that would quickly dissolve under educated scrutiny if not for their requirement that their god exists.

...this world where they feel they can't trust information from traditional sources (which is part of the dumb) and instead they consume entirely opinion-based content from largely un/misinformed individuals and straight up refuse to read anything that contains any substantive detail or context.

The takeaway here is really like....they're just pretty dumb? They've been force-fed religious beliefs that are full of contradictions for their whole lives, and now they have to grapple with how those conflict with their gut reactions to their circumstances. And THEN, they're forced to live in...

Anyway, it's worth the watch for Americans for Elba's character alone, as he's forced to consider countless variables and opinions to make a nobody-wins decision. The thought of Trump (or so many in the succession line) having to make that call is downright horrifying.

There's an argument that Scott/Shreya have some internalized american overzealous patriotism. Sure, your military might react by the 'book' and its systems and processes might allow for the correct decisions to be made every time. Or, the humans at the helm might freak the fuck out...

It's worth the watch. Beyond being entertaining, Scott/Shreya find the right conclusion that regardless of flaws, it is important because it encourages awareness and allows experts to chime in on where the lines of real and not real are blurred.

I'm not from the US, but it is fascinating that these briefings (like so much else) is treated like sport — from the press sec, the room of journalists, and the audience at home. 'That was a bad performance', 'she was on the defensive', etc. As opposed to a service the gov is providing its people.

The best part is that her reaction is genuine. She's so deep in the cult that she can't fathom that small businesses would be dying under this admin, so she actively spins it to herself to avoid having to acknowledge that "maybe this looks bad!" to viewers. Perfect clip for future documentaries....
