Meet Gertrude...I recently took a break from #embroidery landscapes to make this #spider #brooch. Made it with glass #beads and real #amethyst and #aventurine chipstones. I have mild, but visceral arachnophobia, but also a LOVE of shiny beads... so Gertrude inspires just a bit of internal conflict

I used Lincoln Longwool fibre, and autowrapped with holographic Lurex and viscose silk thread #fiberart #yarnsky #weaving #handspun #wool
Hand #spinning loads of art #yarn lately, experimenting with different techniques& playing with texture. This is one of my favs, a mega-chunky faux-corespun. Instead of using a core of yarn, the long staple allows me to autowrap around itself, letting me 'sculpt' the yarn. 3.5m/115g! #artyarn

Here's another of my favourite recent #handspun art yarns I call cloudspun #yarn. I used a Valais Blacknose fleece to 'sculpt' huge fluffy clouds, some of which are over 2 inches thick and tested my spinning wheel to its limit! It's mega chunky and was so much fun to spin.

Seed shopping time! Currently looking at #dahlias. Last year was my first time wiv dinner plate dahlias. Im now obsessed. Fav was Cafe au Lait Rose - she's a big, gorgeous blousy lass Gonna devote a whole bed or 3 this year to dinner plate dahlias, recommendations v welcome. The crazier, the better.

Its a chunky yarn made with Lincoln Longwool locks that I spin so the individual locks hang out. I'm currently obsessed with turquoise/lilac colour combo #weaving
