FDEP adopted updated BMAPs a few weeks ago. We’re examining the plans carefully and can see that they still fall short. The BMAPs:
- include vague strategies
- lack accountability
- and most importantly, will not restore polluted springs back to health.

The first Springs BMAPs came out in 2018. Since then nitrogen in these springs has increased by over 1.5 million pounds per year.

🚨 Silver Glen Springs Protection Zone is under threat: Senator Truenow filed an amendment to SB 164 by Rodriguez that would limit the Silver Glen SPZ to within 230 feet of the springs vent (not much more protective than restrictions already in place). Call Rodriguez & ask her to OPPOSE the amendment

The State Parks protection bill, SB 80, passed its first committee today 👏 We applaud Senator Harrell for filing this good bill! Over 70 conservation orgs, FSC included, sent a letter to the Senator with language to strengthen SB 80. We look forward to continuing to work together to improve SB 80!
