California Native Plant Society offers free native gardening webinars. Tomorrow's is "Basics of a Fire-Safe Yard." I've taken several of these and they are very informative.

Whether in your yard or at a local park, every bit of healthy habitat counts. So get your crew together & help them get gardening: Carpool to a plant nursery, team up for yard work, give out native seeds!

This is so helpful!
As Bluesky has grown, I've seen a lot of backsliding on alt text. Please try to be considerate to others and include alt text with all of your images. It helps everyone. Indeed, in the "accessibility" setting in Bluesky you can set it to make sure you add alt text, which is a useful thing to do.

If we don't document biodiversity we can't study & preserve biodiversity or direct conservation efforts. Obviously, not everyone needs to be a taxonomist, but I believe the basic skills involved should be part of every biologist's fundamental training
We must train specialists in botany and zoology — or risk more devastating extinctions
Failure to fund education in taxonomy could derail efforts to support conservation in low- and middle-income countries.
