I talk about plants for a living.
My favourite part of plant production is efficiency. Planning the entire process so it lines up with windows of costumer value. The most important questions are usually when and where do we produce our product.

Plants look like they do for a reason. This one has a bunch of little hairs all over their thick leaves.

We can learn how to take care of the plant by looking at these features.

Hydroponics!

Growing plants in water. It’s great for vertical farming. It’s also a great way to learn about climate control. Everything has to be precise and mistakes have almost immediate consequences.

It’s actually pretty easy to set up. You should do it at home.

It’s actually wild how different each family of plants is from one another. I’m amazed daily. I love my job.

Figs have inverted flowers. Kinda.

Figs actually have a bunch of little flowers growing inside a pot like structure. They look like this because they work in symbiosis with wasps. This is an excellent example of coevolution.

Go read entangled life by Merlin sheldrake.

It will teach you about mushrooms, the biological individual, symbiosis, and how human beings misunderstand nature when they try to relate to it.

I’m trying out a new kind of growth medium made from plant polymer. It feels and looks weird but at least it’s pink.

It’s hard to pick the most important things to cover when talking about plant production in greenhouses. There’s just too much stuff.

Ask me any questions vaguely related to plants or horticulture. I’ll do my best to answer. 🌺🌱

Mushrooms are pretty cool. They do all sorts of neat things.

Oyster mushrooms are carnivorous. They paralyse nematodes with poison, grow inside their mouths and eat them from the inside.

That’s not even the most exciting thing oyster mushrooms do.
