Science fiction is what it says: Fiction. You are absolutely right, it serves as an enjoyable metaphor for modern problems and intricacies. Whilst the idea of spreading beyond Earth is not impossible, Elon has this perfect Sci-fi view of big money making colonies and spaceships that will fail badly

I love how people think flying cars are a good idea when cars are such a huge cause of accidents and deaths worldwide. Yeah, lets make cars faster and able to go anywhere and also even more full of fuel and things to burn and explode

Personally i do think its possible to "colonise" Mars, but in reality it would be majority robots and a few hardy people managing mining and other such research who spend most of the time in orbit having a much nicer time there. Elon wants big dome cities and I honestly believe he should go do that
