We need human rights-based approaches for psychiatry. A good foundation for a paradigm shift is provided by peers, recovery, empowerment, soteria and trialogue. However, we still need a lot of attitude change and legislation.

The European Violence in Psychiatry Research Group (EViPRG) is a mental health research-focused network with more than 120 members in Europe. The vision is to work together to reduce coercion in mental health services, improve competency and quality of practice & address ongoing human rights issues.

This publication provides concrete recommendations for aligning laws, policies, and practices with human rights standards and for developing patient-centered care and support, considering factors such as gender, age, and cultural acceptance, to uphold human rights. 🌍🤝🧠
