The thing is: I did get everything i needed to work so far. But to give an example: the Signal client for windows is an installer. For Linux I had to use 2 or 3 command line calls. That works for me, but is nothing I would e.g. ask my parents to do on their PC.

The overall UX/usability is actually quite okay for me. What I'm mostly bumping into is the different ways how to install software, and how to find out which method is the best for what. Software Center, flatpack vs system package, app image, command line, ...

Using Windows for 30+ years, but stuff like this got me to give Linux Mint a try last week. It's certainly still lacking in the "intuitive department" here and there, but it works. Goodbye Windows, goodbye MS.

That IS an interesting topic, no doubt. But I have to admit: from all the possible topics of the last 24 hours that I'd be interested in your assessment, something else is on the top of my list...

Natürlich ist das nicht seine Aufgabe. Der einleitende Satz ("...zusammensetzen.") hat bei mir halt Erwartungen geweckt, die der ausführliche Text dann nicht erfüllt hat. Das ist alles :)

Die Preise find ich total okay. Wie sie sich tatsächlich zusammensetzen, bleibt trotz des langen Textes vage. Natürlich geht das nicht alles in deine Tasche. Aber eine ungefähre Aufschlüsselung hätte ich interessant gefunden. Beim Kino und an der Tankstelle hat man ja auch eine grobe Vorstellung :)

Fully agreed. But micro payments don't create ARR for publishing houses, so I guess at least for now we're stuck with the status quo :(

...or as a "compromise": single-card-dashboards with just the one card that is needed to enhance a regular esphome screen. Or did you mean that?
