Actually, all of this is rather easy, but only once you have wrapped your head around it and internalized some principles.

And of course, you never stop learning.

- Aerobic training (even quick walks, every day)
- Anaerobic training

When you do reduce caloric intake, make sure you still get enough protein (how much depends on how much you train), fats and micronutrients. Generally, try not to eat what is probably "garbage". The less processed, the better.

If you do figure out that you are mostly gaining fat and you consider it a problem, you have a few options:

- Increase Basal Metabolic Rate (e.g. by gaining muscle mass, which will increase your weight)
- Reduce caloric intake; works best when you build yourself a system of rules and habits.

Here's a couple of things:

First of all:

- If you do track your weight, weigh in frequently (like every day) and try to do so around the same time of the day. Fluctuations are natural, but the long-term trend is fairly accurate.
- Don't just look at weight; you may be gaining muscle mass!
