Absolutely losing my shit over the fact that Seokjin just did something I wrote him doing in a jinkook fic in 2022
Jin in buzzfeed puppy interview scratching a dog and saying “good boy”, then pausing and wondering, “boy?” Jin picking the dog up and looking at its belly (and lower) to check. Jin confirming the dog is indeed a boy. Screenshot from my archive of our own fic, text reads: Seokjin coos as he slings the strap of his gun back over his shoulder. He crouches down and holds a hand out towards the dog, tutting it over softly. The doberman immediately bounds over at the invitation, whining loudly as it thrusts its head into Seokjin’s palm. “Aw, you’re such a sweetheart. Look at you, such pretty eyes! You just want some scritches, don’t you? Yes, that’s a good boy! Or well, are you a boy?” Seokjin pauses his excited rambling to take a quick glance down at the dog’s belly. “Ah yes, boy. Do you want some water?” The dog starts licking Seokjin’s fingers aggressively, making him giggle.

Suddenly, Seokjin remembered multiple people handling Jungkook’s phone and considered the possibility that Hoseok was not lying or making things up because someone may have managed to swipe the screen to a different picture during the elaborate handoff. Pinching his nose, Seokjin sighed. “Hoseok-ah. I meant a Hello Kitty plushie.” Hoseok pursed his lips. “I don’t even know what that is.” Seokjin narrowed his eyes. “Hello Kitty? The biggest character from Sanrio.” Hoseok gave him a blank look. “Oh c’mon! Sanrio characters? Like Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, Gudetama?” Slowly, Hoseok asked, “Are these from an anime?” “Are you kidding me?” “I don’t know, I don’t watch anime,” Hoseok deadpanned, but he broke character and started laughing at the end of the sentence, just like the time he asked one of their friends if SpongeBob was an anime. Disgruntled, Seokjin started hitting Hoseok with his own pillow, emphasizing every word with a blow. “Stop. Making. That. Stupid. Joke. Over. And. Over!” Laughing, Hoseok fell onto his side and used his arms to cover his face, all while a cat yowled between them in annoyance. They both paused and looked down at the disgustingly, heart-wrenchingly adorable creature on Seokjin’s lap. She blinked back at them, unimpressed. Suddenly, Seokjin grabbed the cat and nuzzled her into his neck, overcome with fondness. “Oh my god, I can’t believe you got me a cat. She’s so cute,” he murmured through a mouthful of fur. “I can’t believe you wanted a plushie. That would’ve been way easier,” Hoseok complained even as he smiled widely, already pulling his phone out to take pictures. He captured at least fifty different shots of Seokjin cuddling the cat, cooing and scratching both the cat’s and Seokjin’s heads affectionately. “This all my gallery is going to be from now on,” Hoseok joked. “If you spoil her more than me, we’re going to have words,” Seokjin warned. The cat meowed as if on cue, sending them both into a fit of giggles. Seokjin tried to act affronted despite his splitting grin, “Look at this! She’s already toppling the hierarchy!” Hoseok booped the cat and then captured Seokjin’s lips in a drawn-out kiss that reduced their laughter into soft smiles. Resting their foreheads together, Hoseok said, “I’m sure she’ll give you a fair fight, but you’ll always be the most spoiled, I promise.” “Good.” They ate their breakfast that now had a light dusting of cat hairs with unbridled joy, and when Hoseok asked Seokjin what he wanted to name the cat, Seokjin easily responded, “Kkultarae.” “I love it. And you and your need to name all your pets after food,” Hoseok teased. “You know it, Jung Hotteok,” Seokjin winked, and Hoseok just laughed in agreement, even more so when Seokjin kindly reminded him that he was still owed a Hello Kitty plushie. “I’ll order one right away,” Hoseok replied, easily convinced as always when it came to Seokjin.

“Of whom?” Seokjin asked. “Her,” Hoseok repeated, and then jutted his chin down to point at his chest. Only then did Seokjin notice the white mass poking out of Hoseok’s hoodie, and that only made his confusion grow stronger. “What-“ Meow. Seokjin paused when the mass inside Hoseok’s hoodie made a sound. He blinked, remembered his vision was garbage, and then reached for his glasses on the bedside table. Once he had the wiry frames on, he looked back up to see two pairs of eyes staring back at him expectantly. One belonged to Hoseok, and the other to a fluffy white cat. “Oh.” “Happy birthday, you blind bat,” Hoseok teased. “Hobi-yah.” “Yeah?” “Whose fucking cat is that?” “Yours, silly. Well, ours.” “Um. I am confused.” “Why baby? You asked for a kitty cat, so I got you one.” “I- what? Why? Last I checked, you were allergic to cats?” Grinning, Hoseok set the tray down on the bed and then pulled the smallest, most adorable cat Seokjin had ever seen, just a ball of floof with two piercing blue irises, out of his hoodie and gave it a quick kiss on the head before placing it on Seokjin’s lap. Despite his confusion, Seokjin immediately started cooing and scratching the cat. “I built up tolerance. I visited Jungkook’s cafe as much as I could, and then last month this sweet girl was rescued and had hypoallergenic fur, so I figured it was a sign and started the adoption process right away. They kept her an extra couple days, so I could surprise you today too. The owner is really nice actually.” Seokjin’s mind was reeling while simultaneously being too groggy. “You- you’re serious? This is our cat? You got me a cat?” “Yeah, I did, hyung, you can pick your jaw up off the floor now,” Hoseok teased, using a finger to nudge Seokjin’s chin. Seokjin did not stop gaping. “But like… why?” “Because you wanted it, and that’s reason enough for me. I’d do anything for you, obviously.” Seokjin pulled away a hand from the cat’s soft fur to cup Hoseok’s cheek. “Hobi, my love, you are so sweet for doing this, and I hate to ask, but… did you hallucinate something? When did I ever ask you for a cat? I’ve always said I wanted a dog since my sugar gliders died.” Hoseok mirrored Seokjin’s gape, and then snapped out of it with a laugh. “Hah! Good one. Like you could just gaslight me into forgetting that you demanded I get you a cat for your birthday.” Seokjin had never been more bewildered in his entire life. “I’m pretty sure I didn’t.” “Yeah you did! It was at our pre-midterms party! You and Jungkook were gushing over cats and then hounded me to get you one.” Seokjin opened his mouth to argue, and then remembered the exact party Hoseok was taking about. His eyebrows furrowed together as he tried to recall his conversation with Jungkook somewhere between his fifth and sixth drink that night. It came back in pieces, then all at once. “You mean when I asked you for a Hello Kitty plushie while I was absolutely plastered?!” “A Hello Kitty what? No, it was a real cat! The picture on Jungkook’s phone was of a Turkish Angora from his cafe.”

“You know you could have just texted it to me?” Hoseok suggested before looking down at the phone, missing how Jungkook stuck his tongue out at him. “Oh wow, that’s a very cute cat,” Hoseok agreed slowly. “Kitty,” Seokjin corrected. “Sure, cute kitty cat,” Hoseok amended. “It’s so soft too!” Jungkook added. “A soft plushie kitty! Wouldn’t that be great?” Seokjin implored his boyfriend with wide eyes. “I mean, yeah…” Hoseok responded, still a little thrown by the conversation. “So get me one!” “For his birthday!” Jungkook chipped in. “For my birthday!” Seokjin repeated. “Alright, whatever you want, baby,” Hoseok replied, easily convinced. Then they all got distracted by the board gamers erupting into chaos, something about a dice roll that unjustly betrayed someone. It was hard to make out much of anything with the overlapping shouting, and as people passionately shuffled onto their knees, fell backwards chortling, or attempted to keep the game pieces intact by throwing their bodies over the board - a terrible idea because it did exactly what they were trying to prevent - their conversation naturally concluded. Hoseok shrugged and turned around to disappear back into the crowd he emerged from, Jungkook chased after him to retrieve his phone, and Seokjin helped his friends reset their game from their alcohol-addled, inebriation-impaired, drunk-dazed, liquor-limited memories. And just like that, the conversation was quickly forgotten and never revisited. Until the morning of Seokjin’s birthday a few months later. Until the morning of Seokjin’s birthday a few months later. He woke up to the bed next to him cold and empty. Hearing sounds from outside the bedroom, Seokjin surmised that Hoseok was up super early and unable to sit still in bed. Unbothered, he just flipped over and attempted to go back to sleep, not thinking much of it. Barely a moment seemed to have passed before the bedroom door opened, and Hoseok stepped in with a tray in his hands. Seokjin lifted his head and forced open one eye to look at him. “Happy birthday, baby!” It was too early for his boyfriend’s unadulterated jubilance, but Hoseok was holding a tray full of pastries, and more importantly, two cups of coffee. And that was reason enough to sit up with a smile. “Aw, you’re spoiling me,” Seokjin joked, propping a pillow up and leaning against it while Hoseok inched closer and carefully climbed onto the foot of the bed before waddling forward on his knees. With anyone else, Seokjin would have rushed to make sure nothing spills or falls off the tray, but Hoseok was extremely lithe and had amazing balance. Unsurprisingly, he managed to sidle forward until he was straddling Seokjin’s knees, and then he leaned down for a quick kiss while still holding the tray between them. Seokjin hummed against his lips happily, only somewhat registering something tickling him under his chin before Hoseok leaned back to sit on his haunches. “So,” he wriggled his eyebrows. “What do you think?” “This is very lovely, and you’re a wonderful boyfriend,” Seokjin responded dutifully. “That I am! But I meant her. What do you think of her?”

Seokjin and Hoseok were what you would call a very chill couple. They first met in university, and became attached at the hip (and then pelvis) almost instantly. Seokjin found he worried less when Hoseok was around. Hoseok, famous for having his head in the clouds and the inability to be selfish, was able to stay grounded and put himself first every now and then under Seokjin’s stern (and loving) gaze. They worked better than anyone could have predicted. They also found out that they threw the best parties when they moved in together, what with Seokjin’s amazing planning skills and Hoseok’s ability to turn any form of socializing into a Good Time TM. It was at one of these parties that a new addition to their friend group, Jungkook (who met their friend Yoongi when he visited the cat cafe that Jungkook worked at, where they quickly became enamoured with each other and started dating), started to tell Seokjin about his roommate’s Hello Kitty collection. Seokjin hadn’t really considered himself much of a plushie person, but the pictures Jungkook showed of his roommate’s bed that was half buried under a mountain of Sanrio characters were pretty convincing, and he was already quite drunk when he exclaimed, “I want one of these!” “Get one! Yoongi-hyung actually just got me one because I keep telling him he’s a cat so he thought I should have a reminder of him when he’s not around. I mean, he’s more of a Keroppi I think, but it’s still so sweet,” Jungkook gushed. “Oh my gosh, you know, you should tell Hobi-hyung to get you one!” “Good point!” Seokjin agreed, shocked that he hadn’t already thought of this before. He realized he needed to communicate this information to his boyfriend right then. “Hobi-yah! Hoseok! Jungkook- I mean, Jung Hoseok! Where are you?!” “What’s up?” Hoseok appeared from a crowd of people on the other side of the living room, stopping a few feet away from where Jungkook and Seokjin were huddled over Jungkook’s phone in a corner. He looked down at the group of people sitting on the carpet between them with a board game in the middle and pouted in contemplation. He didn’t really want to try stepping over them and accidentally knock over the trillions of tiny pieces occupying the space. How these people were playing a complex strategy game in the middle of a rowdy party was beyond him, but he respected the commitment and decided he wasn’t going to risk trying to step over it. Instead he just looked back at Seokjin and gestured for him to continue. “How come you haven’t gotten me a Hello Kitty yet?” Hoseok tilted his head in confusion, and then squinted his eyes like that would help him hear better over the music and dozens of chattering people. “What’d you say?” “How come you haven’t gotten me a Hello - hiccup - Kitty yet?” Seokjin shouted. Hoseok’s eyebrows disappeared behind the hair falling over his forehead in long curls. “I- what? Because you’ve never mentioned it before. I thought you were a dog person?” Seokjin huffed in annoyance, only catching half of the words. “Not a dog! A kitty! The plushie kind! Like - hey, Jungkook, show him the picture.” Complying, Jungkook held his phone screen out towards Hoseok, but the brightness was too low for him to really make out the picture over the distance between them. With a stroke of genius, Jungkook tossed it to someone on the ground, who passed it to the person next to her, who passed it to the next, and the next, and the next, until it ended up with a perplexed looking Hoseok after changing at least seven hands.

One of the first bts fics I wrote and also the only crack fic I’ve ever written. This was the product of a single feverish night and though it’s not my best writing, it is hilariously unserious jinkook and I think people liked that lol
