But recently the vet started prescribing her human grade Gabapentin, and after a dose of Gabby P, she’s having a lovely old time - so much so that she’ll even let us groom her. So no more shaves for Bee. As a grand old dame of 13, this is good news all round.

There are only two things Bee seems to enjoy. Sleeping, and staring at a bush in our garden.

When we got our dog, Fox, this only served to enrage Bee further. This picture encapsulates their differing personalities pretty perfectly.

Bee used to have to go to the vets a lot because she wouldn’t allow us to groom her. So we would have to pay hundreds of pounds each year to have her anaesthetised and shaved. She would come home looking like this.

Bee is perpetually furious. She has an ASBO at the vets, where they euphemistically describe her as “spicy”.

I love them! Took this shot recently in Richmond Park. But truth is, even for those who don’t like them, the genie is out of the bottle now. They’re here to stay.
