Oh, fun! I remember sitting Mario down all the time in New Super Mario Bros. (DS), since in that game, Mario can stay on his butt after a Ground Pound if Down is held. I think he can also stay seated after sliding, too? With a weird unique sound for standing up. None of this applies in Wii onwards.
