Tamara Yufa is mostly famed for her illustrations for Kalevala - Finnish-Karelian epic compiled by Elias Lönnrot. She created numerous illustrations for different editions of this book.

Karelia is a region in Russia, near Finland. And if I am not wrong, at some point of history, it was a part of Finland.
Anyhow, after graduating from Leningrad Artist College, she moved to Karelia and immediately fell in love with it's quiet and modest beauty.
