Might not work for everyone, but I've just personally found it to be a more consistent way of drawing poof! ^^

I'm a big advocate for the importance of learning and practicing construction skills (breaking stuff down into basic shapes to build around)

If you do workstation stuff and plan to dual boot Windows for the software/games you can't use on Linux, it's a bit more complicated... The installation part is easy (at least with Mint), but figuring out how you want to organize and partition everything takes some planning.

As for desktops, I'd say if you have a pure gaming PC the only research you'd really need to do is just check what games you can comfortably play on Linux and determine if it's worth switching over. There's some good distros primarily for gaming!

I definitely think it's a good idea to get away from Windows if possible! Not a fan of Recall, data collection, and all the other AI stuff Microsoft is doing with 11.

Definitely recommend starting out with putting something like Linux Mint on an old laptop. It can really breathe new life into it!

DIAPERS?!?!?!
ARE JUST 2 CYLINDERS!!!!

I've actually been doing similar for a bit now! The instinct is to use a sphere, but I find it easier to use a cylinder to help determine the planes and thickness. I'll use a smaller circle for the leg holes, too.

Apparently I tend to erase them most of the time so I don't have many examples TwT;;

I'd definitely recommend giving it a Shot! At least trying it on an old laptop or something first.

I'm currently dual booting. As much as I'd love to, I can't quit Windows cold turkey -w-; Some of my games/programs won't run on Linux. I've started moving my most-played games to Linux though!

I haven't heard of ElementaryOS or EndeavorOS! I might have to check those out.

Thanks! It's an adjustment but I'd definitely like to get away from Windows as much as possible -w-;

That makes sense! ^^ Thank you very much!

Definitely would agree with this based on my experience so far! 💙

It has been nice! I mainly picked Mint because friends/family who are interested in moving over would need an all-arounder distro, and most of them really liked Win 7/10 haha. Figured I'd be a guinea pig for them.

Most of my issues have either been self-inflicted or are minor gripes

If you've got an old laptop you want to breathe life into, I'd recommend trying Linux on it!

You can install both Windows and Linux at the same time with a bit of elbow grease, but I recommend just wiping your device and starting from scratch if possible. It's just way easier to deal with.

It's way better than it was 10 years ago! But it's got a ways to go TwT;

Linux Mint is pretty user-friendly. The "Cinnamon" UI is pretty customizable, and the Software Manager "app store" makes for an easy way to install many popular programs (Steam, Discord, etc).

I get this same way. Every time I get to the part where I think about the headaches of managing a community, I mentally check out.

If you plan to dual boot: Don't try to use the same game installs. Check game compatibility (protondb.com) and uninstall compatible games to free up space.

Partition your drives to a Linux format and reinstall your games.

Encourage yourself to use Linux by installing your most played games first.

If anyone's curious: There's an install for Clip Studio using Lutris. It's a bit buggy but exists.

Nvidia drivers for Linux are doo doo and run worse than Windows. If you're running AMD you'll be fine. Unsure about Intel cards.

I did consider CachyOS! I might give that a look later down the line. I didn't really understand the Arch hype until I had someone explain to me that it's all about having complete control over what you have installed. That does sound pretty satisfying~
November 4, 2025 at 10:05 PM
It's a learning curve. I wouldn't say it's been the smoothest ride so far... But there's also some really nice things about it! Having control over your stuff feels good. If you plan to dual boot, be prepared to partition your drives. I hoped to use my existing game installs but it's a hassle.

I'm sort of a guinea pig for a few friends/family that hate windows so I picked Mint as an all-arounder. Arch interests me on a fundamental level, but I wanted to find a "happy medium" to recommend for people who may be less tech savvy

Aaa this turned out so good! Very cute!
