My old-man-yelling-at-clouds take is that we collectively shouldn't have allowed microtransactions, paid subscriptions, digital-only PC games, and DRM to become the norm in gaming. Or really to exist at all. They're all nothing but a bad thing
My only complaint about PCs becoming the new consoles is that no one will own anything. Digital Games aren't ownership if they're tied to a DRM service like Steam. Hell, I'd argue you can't own anything you can't sell, which is all digital games.
