A bit intense about climate change and fossil fuels. Knitting Nanna

You asked for it!

We tracked down photos of 3 🧶👵’s, a clown (+driver) being pursued by police on Newcastle Harbour on Saturday. Nannas were finally arrested but released without charge.

Not everyone is in a position to take direct action - but we can all spread the word #ClimateAction now!

Newcastle Port now closed to coal ships! Wish we had drone footage of 5 Nannas in a tinny breaching 100m exclusion zone in an ‘exciting back &forth with police boats’. (Observers report). No arrests. Harbour authorities closed the port to coal ships. @risingtideaus.bsky.social

Nannas invite you to say no to the SANTOS gas lateral pipeline - the crucial plank of Santos’ dastardly plan to drill 850 gas wells in the precious Pilliga Forest.

THE FISH BOWL: HOW MURDOCH MEDIA AND MINING BILLIONS STRANGLED AUSTRALIA’S CLIMATE FUTURE
Malcolm Turnbull knows the Coalition is trapped in a “fact-free, reality-free culture war” over climate, dictated by Sky News and Murdoch media. He’s right—but what he won’t admit is that state cap…

worse than expected COP30 outcome - No roadmap, no mention of the f words. Good the 80 states have split to make a roadmap in April.
On the last official day of #COP30 climate talks, countries are divided on whether to commit to phasing out fossil fuels. Vanuatu's minister for climate change says big polluters like Saudi Arabia are obstructing action despite "scientific clarity" on the need to transition to clean energy.

Planning law reform should be about listening to climate science, not the mining lobbyists Chris Minns
A change to ourNSW Planning system is being rushed through Parliament by Minns Gov with keen Coalition support as a ‘Planning System Reform Bill’ supposedly aimed to speed up housing approvals. They say. But it is widely pro-development of roads, mines & infrastructure.

The strong uptake of solar energy by home owners was celebrated yesterday by Solar Citizens at Wolli Creek on Sun Day. They say we now need governments to focus on making the benefits of clean cheap energy available to people who rent and people who live in apartments. A fair go for the climate too.
Say hi to Tahlia a community organiser for Solar Citizens at the Solar Picnic Day at Cahill Park Wolli Creek today.

Cause we are stronger together.

Will Labor's productivity roundtable carry-on take into account the National Climate Risk Assessment that they've been refusing to release❓

Cos it sure sounds like there're some HUGE productivity implications in that report❗

Take off the blindfold, folks❗
David Pocock MP: Setting emissions target without releasing the National Climate Risk Assessment is “going on a journey without a map”. How to plan the journey when you don’t know where you’re headed? How to assess the effectiveness of policy if we don’t know what needs to be addressed? #auspol
