PhD student looking at Adverse Childhood Experiences. Interested in education, psychology, social justice and public health. Learning lots about mixed methods and coproduction in research at the moment, all whilst parenting a 1 year old. Swansea & Bristol
New PhD milestone: found myself physically banging my head against the wall next to my desk. Mendeley creating a brand new reference list for no reason. IYKYK

Was advertised this 'opportunity' through the University recently. I wonder if the students whose work is submitted will get the opportunity to consent in taking part? Or be told? Or indeed if they will be penalised for using AI for assignments that are used for this pilot?

I can't tell you how happy it makes me to find a Lord of the Rings pun on a research paper in the wild. I don't know what to do with myself now, kinda feels like I should take the rest of the day off

Mine was a reasonable 0.7 miles to primary school, but speaking of non-motorist travel infrastructure, this is the suggested route... 3 minute walk on a verge next to the A1, then across 5 lanes to eventually get into the village... there's a perfectly good underpass 2 minutes back mind!

On a great training session today about decolonisation, it’s taken me on a journey though

AI is the future, except this is what I got from a AI voice note transcription. Welsh gibberish. Voice note was in English, but I was in a school in Wales so it’s possible my phone picked up a very incoherent ghost 🤔 👻

Also a fan of thin ceramic here and the interior must be completely white. Bonus: this isn’t made of bone china. I’m still reeling from the revelation about 6 years ago that IT HAS BONES IN IT. Led to a major mug restructure

Sure. It’s under ‘The role of others: social resilience’
I think the detail he provides here is so key and his view is really misrepresented by the rest of the article!

At an event recently this image was used to illustrate the concept of ‘obesegenic environments’. The question went: Why the need to associate fast food with childbirth?
Well let’s think 1/

Wow. 24 UK local authorities are working with real terms cuts of 25% since 2016.
This relates to funding for services for 0-5s. Great insight from Louise McGrath-Lone @ukphsci.bsky.social

Returned today from an idyllic holiday in Kos. Wonderful to get a last injection of sunshine before the long grey days start. Not pictured - my 14 month old in utter delight at the all inclusive buffet and the joy of chasing a ball all over the hotel

Looking at resources whilst working on an intervention summary and wow, I hate these. So being bullied is only a 'medium' problem, not having eaten enough all weekend and coming in hungry is a 'small' problem. Aside from the unhelpful messaging, using this would actively hinder safeguarding!

Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #6,155,877! Prime factorisation of 3 x 7 x 13 x 22549, that's got to be pretty unlikely to get a 5 digit prime number in there, blessed
