The Floating Hospital

For 160 years, we have provided unrestricted healthcare and relief to New York City’s most vulnerable residents, regardless of identity or ability to pay. For them we are an island of stability in their often turbulent, and ever-changing world.
The Floating Hospital joined the Long Island City Walk & Talk tour on 1/24, organized by New Yorkers for Parks and the Play Fair Coalition. Elected officials, open space advocates, and LIC residents toured potential green space sites in what is currently one of the least green districts in NYC.

December’s Candy Cane Lane served more than 1,000 visitors—843 of them children—providing new coats, sneakers, winter clothing, pajamas, toys, games, books, and other gifts for the holidays. Some 4,700 items were received in all, making it a happier holiday for kids in need of some joy.

From all of us at The Floating Hospital—thanks for standing with our patients. Your generosity keeps our doors open, shuttle rolling and team ready to help families create new possibilities. We’re all grateful for your trust and belief that every family deserves care without barriers.

Tonight, your gift matters most, ensuring reliable care for families with nowhere else to turn. In 2026, new deduction rules for charitable gifts take effect. Lock in the best tax value for your generosity while you stand with us to meet this moment.

Spark someone’s new beginning in this new year.

Our biggest news this year was our selection as one of 80 Action for Women’s Health awardees worldwide, but we felt seen in other ways as well, including Bank of America’s Neighborhood Builders Grant, news coverage and the many ways big and small that donors helped our patients in times of crisis.

You can be the reason a family moves from crisis to stability. Your doubled gift becomes transportation that shows up in all weather, medical and dental care delivered with dignity, counseling that steadies a parent’s heart, and tools to help families rebuild their lives brick by brick.

It started with the vision of a waiting room filled with patients reading books. Now, Foundation Board Chair Joan Brancaccio, has brought that dream to life in our main clinic and other sites where she and staff, interns and volunteers bring books and also read to children.
December 19, 2025 at 10:50 PM
Every day, families come to our clinics searching for healing, relief and hope. Join the challenge: If you give today, our Foundation Board will take your generous donation further than you imagined, doubling its impact with a 1:1 match—while those funds last. Your kindness truly matters right now.

Warm memories of camp!

Although temperatures have chilled and the holidays are on the way, we are still warmed by the joy and discovery we witnessed at Camp Rise Up in August. Enjoy these memories and witness in real time the positive change in the lives of these teens. Links in comments

Delexis calls The Floating Hospital “a magical place” because supporters like you turned a grim chapter into hope for her family.

After fleeing violence, they found compassion and care with us that gave them the strength and health to change their lives.

Be that refuge for the next family.

In the season of peace, gratitude and giving, it would not be the holidays around here without the joyous moments of Candy Cane Lane, taking place 12/8-12/12. New toys, books, coats, winter gear, socks, sleepwear for adults and children, and gift cards are all needed. See link in comments.

Thank you for giving hope on Giving Tuesday! Because of your generosity, more families will receive the healthcare and essentials they need. Whether you gave, shared our mission, or spread the word, you made a real difference.

By standing with us, you are building a healthier, stronger community.

On #GivingTuesday, make a difference for families who need it most. Your donation helps children and adults in shelters and domestic violence safe houses receive the care and necessities they lack. But sharing our post to raise awareness is important too.

You can help them build a brighter future.
