You adjust the walk to suit the weather but they have to get out to use the bathroom at a minimum. Most people in the city don't have any outdoor space like a backyard so nowhere for the dogs to go. On bad weather days you keep it short, let them do their business and then play with them inside.

The biggest downsides are the lack of time off as you can't really call in sick if it's just you doing the walks and being outside and caring for the dogs in extreme weather like high heat/freezing cold/heavy rain and snow.
I left a good job in an ER in Brooklyn to do this and I'm so much happier

I'm a dog walker in NYC. I run my own business and while I don't make $200k a year I do well enough to live here comfortably. Many walkers are making $30 an hour and that's per dog so if you do more than one at a time that starts to add up to real money.

Health insurance is a major issue and a huge problem for Americans but it was completely ignored by @1010wins.bsky.social for the light story they wanted to tell instead of the whole story.
I expect so much better from them and others. Maybe I shouldn't anymore.

Sure, she loves the sport and wants to compete but she stated very clearly that she came back because she was put on Cobra and had to compete to get her health insurance.
I don't understand how a news org. like @1010wins.bsky.social fails to mention such an important point.

There are beautiful beaches here and all up and down the coast but the biggest advantage ours have over the west coast is that our water is warm.

The best skiing on the east coast is in the northeast so you'd have to head to places like Vermont which is by far the best. You have decent options in PA, NY, NH and Maine.

Depending on what you're looking for it can be found in different areas. You would have to drive to get to them as most transit is focused on getting between big cities rather than getting you to things like the mountains or recreation areas.

The skiing is rather close at Bear and Hunter mountains but the best skiing is in Vermont and is not accessible by train.

I can't honestly say how what we have here compares as I've never been but I don't think it would be quite as nice as what you have in Washington. The PNW is special.
We have some beautiful mountain ranges, lots of rivers and lakes and gorgeous wilderness all accessible by train or bus.

I just don't want actual cake in my ice cream cake. Carvel does it right. Vanilla, chocolate and those wonderful crunchies in the middles. They make one with fudge and crunchies all over the outside. It's absolutely amazing!

The NYC Subway is just the five boroughs but it you take the Metro North from the city it goes up the Hudson River to many locations with beautiful hiking trails through the woods.
We also have buses to take us to the mountains for skiing.

I'm happy to live in the "commie corridor." Things are rather nice with elected officials that do good work and are available when you have an issue.
