Making govt "lean" has also ballooned consulting costs. Most govt entities have lost so much expertise that, instead of paying an in-house expert $100 an hour, you now pay McKinsey $5,000 an hour (as needed) to do the same thing

I just called my congressman to tell them I support a "no support for a budget until codes are enforced" stance when it comes to getting a budget passed in March. Sadly title 5 that is being disregarded also includes the federal back pay provision... It's all or nothing.
