Based on that how are we behind Arsenal in the table ?
Looks like we have the same or better PPG than them against top and bottom - that can’t be right can it or am I missing something
October 7, 2025 at 10:40 AM
For me it’s not just the numbers
(Arsenal have 3 new starters most games and are playing better than us) it’s that and we’re trying to change the way we play too . No Trent and trying to fit Wirtz in

Add 2-3 key players being well off the form of last year (Macca, Ibou, Mo) = a perfect storm

VAR should be limited to 3 'challenges' for each team per game (similar to the nfl / cricket)

VAR team have a set time to make a call, otherwise it stays with the onfield decision

take too long over a set piece to waste time - it goes to the other team (corner becomes goal kick and vice versa)

me too

it's not all of us , but a certain % of any fanbase will be dickheads and we have a big fanbase = a lot of dickheads

personally I can't stand the tribalism and trolling

I just want to read and chat about footy

but i am old

Liverpool fan here in peace

I love this , what football should be about

clubs should be central to their local communities , not global franchises full of mercenaries just passing through

And the “anonymous gem” line is superb 👌

I thought it was odd but turns out We’d been in touch about him as far back as January

I reckon it was Jota’s death threw our plans up in the aidarwin was always going so it Meant we needed 2 strikers not one

and an italian to help leoni with the culture shock
August 29, 2025 at 7:28 PM
Definitely

Although maybe that’d be different if the replacement was better

🤷‍♂️
August 29, 2025 at 2:15 PM
We’ll never know, but maybe that was negotiation too

high figure to start, if someone pays it = happy days

But you’ve got a lower figure you’d accept

Like we did with Diaz, €100m became €75

Either way, I reckon you’ll get the best of the deal, too much for any player, esp with his injuries

FWIW I agree that a 3rd signing before the window ends would be ideal

but assuming you're right about Isak and Guehi , my 3rd would be proper cover for Grav before another forward

feels like a big drop off when he's not available

BBC have used uefa coefficients

which "feels" more accurate

us and city = hard draws , spurs and arsenal = doddle

when I said “Difference” I meant the obvious gap we’d have vs last year assuming we get Isak
August 29, 2025 at 11:32 AM
A LW ?
That’d be the obvious difference vs last year , but it blocks Rio
August 29, 2025 at 11:31 AM
Emergencies only
Eg if Gakpo and Isak are both hurt
Hugo goes left ( slot has mentioned he can play there ) and Wirtz as F9
August 29, 2025 at 11:15 AM
Maybe Wirtz as false 9 in emergencies ?
Move back to last season’s midfield
August 29, 2025 at 7:39 AM
I was keen to see this too as I thought our draw looked tough , but then you see the power rankings it's based on and it starts to feel a bit iffy
they have us as a better team than PSG
Forest stronger than Napoli
Brentford as the 18th strongest team in europe .......
August 28, 2025 at 9:56 PM
ok thanks
August 20, 2025 at 7:59 PM
much healthier way to be

I'm genuinely just trying to have a straight conversation about it

without getting into the whole "cry more" stuff
August 20, 2025 at 7:17 PM
could be wrong, but i reckon it was his agent who first approached liverpool (and probabaly arsenal , chelsea etc ) not the other way round

& he did so after the fallout with the club

otherwise we just happened to get lucky & contacted him after a row ? maybe but seems a stretch
August 20, 2025 at 7:15 PM
it seems like this started when Isak felt a promise to him (probably made by Staveley ) was broken

maybe a pay rise or even an agreement that he could go in the summer

obviously none of us know all the details , so we can't know if it any of that is true or if it was a made up slight or not
August 20, 2025 at 7:03 PM
Thanks

He definitely feels very let down

Just wasn’t sure if the “giving them more time” comparison with Coutinho / Suarez was right tho

I thought the original rumours were about a promised pay rise that never materialised

But I may have that wrong (& they were only rumours)
August 20, 2025 at 4:05 PM
Toney ?

Or would he be in the same camp as Osimhen ?

Wages & off the field stuff being an issue
August 20, 2025 at 3:51 PM
Do we know that though?

Has there been anything that said he agreed to give them more time

I’ve only seen that he’d told them he wanted to go a long time ago

They’re not necessarily the same thing & “a long time ago” is vague

We know a promise has been broken but not the details of that promise

Just seen a post by Slbsn ( Stefan Borson the city fan/ finance guy on Talksport a lot ) on Twitter

not sure what the source is but it looks very explicit that the FIFA rule doesn’t apply to transfers within the same league
