Those things said, Holger is an absolute darling and I adore his sly humor when it peeks through his staid exterior. And like many crafting shows, I really appreciate the way that the contestants seem to have developed genuine friendships.

My heart broke for the sweet contestant in ep2 who knits through the back loop - which is not WRONG, just DIFFERENT; you can do fine if you understand how it affects the fabric and how to modify increases/decreases. The way she was shamed by the judges exemplifies the worst of knitting gatekeeping.

"Steeking is sooooo scary! Don't do it!" Steeking can be stressful, yes, but it works fine if you use the right yarn and decent technique (and the contestant did it correctly; although it's presented as though his choice to steek got him eliminated that apparently wasn't actually the real reason).

ALSO very irritated that they are perpetuating some of the ridiculous things that make people scared of knitting/quit knitting because they can't do things right.
