A black and white image of the airplane Wright Flyer. it is flying over the ground by a few decimeters. A man is standing to the side looking at the flying plane. This was the very first motorized aircraft that actually got of the ground. That was on the 17th of December in 1903. It was build by the brothers Wright who made the flight near the village Kitty Hawk which is in North Carolina. Kitty Hawk is a nickname for this plane. The plane was made with wood, wires, and cloth coverings. The first flight it made it stayed in the air for 12 seconds and made a distance of more than 36 meters, later that day it flew 260 meters in 59 seconds, with an average speed of 16km/h.
