Poorly-structured organization makes convoluted systems. Overworked teams create flimsy, buggy code. You can know a great deal about a place from just using their product. I’ve found this to be a good litmus test for determining whether I’d enjoy working for a certain company.

This is an upshot of the Conway’s law. I’ve found that the quality of the product is often indicative of the environment and culture in which it was developed. Happy teams make happy products. Company emphasizes excellence ships excellent software. The opposite also stands true.

Rise of LLMs exacerbates pre-existing issues for a lot of platforms. But quality platforms do not seem to be negatively affected (so far). Looking at data from 2017 to date, traffic for platforms like reddit, wikipedia, and substack are either steadily increasing or staying the same.
