Okay, so I'm in Japan and Korea for the next month, which is absolutely surreal. I'm gonna live update here, I think. It's mostly for myself to chronicle everything, but hopefully you all can join in the fun.

Had a great dinner and after dinner beer. Melon milk, sesame noodles, and a fruity ale. Actually 3 of my favorite things, and I'm very happy to eat less pastry, because that has been so much of my diet the last few days. I'm not sure if it's bc of exertion or what but I can't stop eating here lol

Overall I'm surprised at how different TGS is from a PAX. I knew it would be pretty different, but wow. The expo floor here blows PAX's out of the water and really solidifies that I should basically skim it every PAX. On the other hand, it's *brutal* with nothing else to do. So crowded & tiring.

Oh man it's been an absolute mess since last night. I lost my TGS ticket, and they were sold out. I managed to find a ticket for resale on a Japanese fluency only site and fake my way through it, so I'm here!

Spent the night seeing Akihabara, buying some retro games, (Cubivore and Pokemon Black JP versions) and going to the Pokemon Center DX.

The indie 80 at TGS were absolutely the highlight of it for me so far. I'll write up what I thought was great later, because there's a lot.
I will say though, the quality was... variable. Devs who just didn't get parts of their genre, imo, and missed on what makes them fun.

Okay, my first absolutely bizarre, amazing moment.

One other area TGS crushes is cosplay. There had to be hundreds and hundreds of cosplayers in the cosplay area, plus more and more streaming in constantly. So many were super high quality, but Sanic stole my heart.

That said, TGS merch blows PAX out of the water completely. Holy cow is the merch here amazing. Not just licensed products but things like keyboards too (there are so many amazing keyboards here!)

One jarring change between what I'm used to (PAX) and TGS is what the booth employees are allowed to do. PAX really cracks down on booth babes and really aggressive flyer distribution, and here it's way more a thing. Especially the flyers! Nobody wants you to put your arm in front of them, c'mon.
