You never really get the feeling that you're inside a dystopian hellscape because you're looking at everything from the outside. It's someone else's nightmare. You just see the perspective of the guy who's annoyed he has to come in and clean it up.

I'd see it as ridiculously dystopian if the perspective was from inside a nuclear apocalypse as you brave the hardships and try to survive the horrible conditions and the terrible civilization that allows this to happen. That isn't the perspective given, though.

Of course it is, but they also overcome it and improve everything after. and while that is a plot point in the story it's not like it's telling a story about living out life inside a nuclear apocalypse. It's seen more from an outside perspective as he is the guy who comes in to clean up the mess.

Wait, I didn't see it as hugely dystopian. It has some dystopian stuff in there but the good guys always beat them and win. Did you mean it as dystopian?
