TIRED: Use the Defense Production Act to bypass local regs and ramp-up U.S. output of critical rare-Earth minerals.
WIRED: Switch from dependence on China for rare-Earth minerals to dependence on Russia, for a huge payout to friends and family.
Russian rare-Earth production is what? One percent of global output? The U.S. has bountiful rare-Earth deposits. Who in their right mind would want to invest in production in Russia when we could be investing in domestic production instead?

I am okay with the higher prices, just so long as none of the increased revenue after tariffs goes to the rank-and-file workers. Because that would be **checks notes** socialism.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

The cold, hard truth.
You can’t negotiate with Putin’s Russia.
1. You can deter them, or, if you fail to deter them,
2. You can stop them, or, if you fail to stop them,
3. You lose.

Europe has long failed to deter Russia. We now have two options left: Stop them, or lose.

Choose wisely.

Seeing lots of comments today that the President can't overrule the Constitution by executive fiat, and that the courts will intercede. While that is how things are supposed to work, a gentle reminder that presidents have ignored court rulings without consequence.
