Part of what I love so much about this ep is that Ben has a GF, since ep1 he has a GF. She is not mentioned or seen at all in this ep. The Bens never even try to see her, you wouldn’t even know he has gf if you watch this ep. Which I find fascinating. I’m sure it’s for a perfectly reasonable reason.

He’s not mad when he doesn’t french OG, he just stares at him licking his teeth. He pops one in the wardrobe when everyone is inside it trying to become 1 Ben again. Dad B is appalled and Confident is indifferent but does glance at it. The other Bens either don’t notice or don’t care.

What does ‘And more’ mean no idea could be fluffy or a raging inferno, ambiguity it’s funner that way. He constantly makes innuendoes and is so pumped when OG suggests they should kiss. Granted the others don’t dislike the idea either. The only reprimand he gets is from mom, who wants him to chill.

Magician Ben is here to dazzle and put on a show. Is already very good at magic tricks, sleight of hand, not like actual magic which does exist in this show. It’s never stated that it is actually magic because it’s very magician oriented, smoke bombs, cards, infinite neckerchief pull, etc.

Dad Ben is good for a pep talk and vibes, some wholesomeness to balance out the craziness of the others. Confident Ben is certain that he’s the leader of the group, I think if asked all of them would name themselves as the leader. Confident is mischievous and blunt, tied for 1st place with Horny.

Ben doesn’t know why Cat Ben is a part of his personality, I’m pretty Ben is a furry, he just doesn’t know it yet. Cat is shameless and commits 100% to it. He has those mannerisms down and I love that for him. Scared is so adorable and has more confidence than I would’ve gave him credit for.

Ben goes from fine to going through it to being better off in the end. He was the first one to suggest they(he & mom) just get used to there being another Ben forever. He is also the one to suggest macking on each other at the end of the ep. Big swings for Ben. He’s still a doormat but he’s trying!

Now for ramblings, I like all of the Bens, I find them interesting and what they mean for Ben interesting, and how they interact with both each other and the world. They also greatly enjoy being together, including with Ben until he wanted them gone which put him at the bottom of the pecking order.

To name a few, Ben has been shown to be the responsible one compared to his sister and even uncle, he can be incredibly horny and curios, his confidence and fear are often showed hand in hand, like standing up to a serial killer. Future he loves magic, sells the hotel’s vases to buy magician kits.

Final thoughts regarding the message of the ep, I like the message being more towards confidence than one’s perceived manliness and the importance of self love, and that people are complicated. From watching the eps until this point, you can see the why these six sides are core pieces of Ben.

It’s not ‘be a man’ it’s ‘be more confident in yourself, I know you can’ wildly different tones and implications, even if someone says the first means the second; it’s not the same. But it’s also more than that, the notion that you’re more complex than you realize. Minor but it’s given time to sit.

I’ll talk about the analysis of this before I devolve into my fanatic ramblings about(you’ll never guess who). I wish I had an ep like this when I was younger, I would’ve liked this show overall but particularly this ep too. The graphic displays of affection, without mockery or postering.

Mom stops this immediately putting her hands in between their faces to separate them, lip blocker! For good reason, She has them try the mirror wardrobe again because they all like each other now. This time it works, YAY! There is another plot line going on but I don’t care about it like I do this.

There are a number of ways to end a Doppleganger/‘character is now literally fractured’ plot line, taking out the evil clone or magic mumbo jumbo, or collecting them and yes self acceptance isn’t foreign here. But this is by far my favorite. Mom happily remarks on how multifaceted Ben really is.

Knife to his neck, Ben states a fact, they don’t know that past tensing him will work. In fact it could be best Ben left standing. Thinking they’re all the best, they go after each other. Typical of this type of story. And are you surprised that one of them gets hurt? Oh no! Cat B gets cut!

They need to go as in he needs to be one Ben again and he’s not the only one with that want. The other Bens also want to be whole again. And they quickly turn to redrum’ing about it. Thinking that the best way to recombine is to end the weakest of them then try getting into the mirror again.
