So what's the plan for keeping the jerks from ruining this place, too? Bc it won't stay lovely forever unless we make an effort. They're *already* popping in to shit things up. I haven't worked out how to increase post visibility yet, so any help getting this discussion going would be appreciated.
I gave what I could, though it wasn't much in the grand scheme. Every bit counts, though. Better for many to give a little than for the bulk to come from just a few, and create an obligation to meet the demands of big money donors.

Please give and/or share as you are able.

This is the answer. I'm not always best at it but I'm a *lot* better than I used to be.

Do not engage with the shit-stirring troublemakers. They're here to disrupt and waste your time. The more attention you give them, the more people they reach.

Let them and their toxic ideas rot in silence.
Block and ignore. They need engagement. If you make it too boring for them, they'll get bored and leave.
Let’s see how fast we can get her to shoot up the most blocked rankings.

Remember that folks like her are here to mine us for nasty comments so they can run back to Twitter and use us as an example of their oppression. She’s knows we hate her. We don’t have to give her content and ammunition.

I just heard my partner say 'fuck your ice breakers' to some game.

So I shouted 'Yeah!' because I am very supportive.

Also fuck ice breakers.

Absolutely this. Even in Guy's Cancer centre where people are obviously immunocompromised, especially on the chemo floor, no one is masking anymore. It's really... upsetting.

I'm actually weaning myself off calling it googling.

Google is just a useless algorithm-driven sales platform now.

Am currently sat next to Partner Unit, being handed small pieces of bread like he's feeding the ducks.

I am embarrassingly soothed by this.

What's funny is that this almost sounds like it would be beneficial to chronic illness patients. 'They're finally going to try helping us instead of hating us for not getting better?'

Alas, I am under no illusions that these morally bankrupt, empty-souled monsters actually want to help anyone.
Goldman Sachs analysts : The money men saying the quiet part out loud

Curing patients may not be a sufficiently profitable enterprise for biotech companies.

Chronic disease is a far more beneficial business model

Well, now so do I.

We just refuse to learn. Anything. Ever.
I think a lot about this quote from Anaïs Nin’s diary from 1939-1944:

“America is in even greater danger because of its cult of toughness, its hatred of sensitivity, and someday it may have to pay a price for this, because atrophy of feeling creates criminals”.

I seem to have lost access to the cheerful side of Bluesky.

Or is everything just so fucking dark that there is no cheerful side left?

This this this.

Everything we lose, we lose because we aren't paying attention to the small encroachments, the small things being taken.

These things don't happen overnight in one fell swoop.

We're the frogs in the pot, with half of us denying the water is getting warmer.
We won’t end up with a US style healthcare system out of the blue one day. We’re sliding towards it because politicians are shrinking the resources and delivery of the NHS, more people are being forced into the private sector, +this is being normalised 🚨

We must push back hard 💙

Minor thing I'm utterly livid about today: I can't find anywhere to watch eps of the Buzzcocks reboot. I looked into NowTV but there are adverts even if you pay? And then they wonder why pirating is a thing. It's because you fuck us at every turn, assholes.

Anyway, like...dm me streaming sites.

This isn't even a slight exaggeration. Google is utterly unfit for purpose. (Or rather, for it's stated purpose. We all know that it isn't*actually* trying to be helpful to the searcher anymore.)

We also need to let go of ideological purity and perfect solutions, and stop putting our feelings of righteousness before the small improvements we could be making to people's lives. It's not meaningless just because it doesn't happen all at once. Steps in the right direction matter.

I don't know how many more times this needs to be said, or by whom, but: If you can't run your business without exploiting people, you can't run your business. It's not viable. Stop.

This is what happens in societies where 'don't tattle' is beaten into our children (sometimes literally) from the get.

Reactions/retaliations/responses in-kind continue to be given more weight and censure than the initial wrongdoing. From your kindergarten class to the Oval freaking Office.

Finally some good news somewhere.

My emotional wherewithal is total chaos right now, but the bit of it currently under my control is so happy and hopeful for Syria right now.
The fact that PM’s like “I’m coming to work tomorrow” & the unified Assad opposition forces have handed him the keys of power for the time being is an EXCELLENT sign. Don’t doom the country before it begins to get down to work. Goodnight & congratulations, #freeSyria! apnews.com/article/syri...
