I don't think it's lack of interest, it's deliberate. It keeps his followers blissfully unaware, and the administration happy (cuz not talking badly about mein president). More like dodging the gigantic elephant in the room in the "don't worry about it" style.

Companies seem to don't understand that their ads seem to be less effective every year because 1- nobody has any money to buy the stuff and 2- we get so annoyed at ads we actively avoid their products.
But no, it must be because we aren't shoving enough ads down the consumer's throat already.
