it should be examined on a case-by-case basis. I dislike the GenAI more than the next person, but I'm not going to completely dismiss it without using some critical thinking. The IGAs are just doing a dance to appease others and make themselves feel good in this case. It's foolish.

100% Diesel. They didn't do their research and removed them after the fact. One survey resulted in 90% of devs use AI now, so are we now going to witch hunt all of them for using it? Are we going to boycott the entire industry? AI doesn't equal all bad. There's nuance to the use of it and...

But don't you play a lot of indies and stuff Mat? I recall you saying so when you were on Game Mess Mornings.
October 29, 2025 at 2:41 PM
Hahaha! I'm 44, so I'm still a bit of the target, but my time is already theirs since I'm hardcore and been gaming since the mid 80s.
October 29, 2025 at 2:39 PM
People like you and I are becoming less of the target market because selling to the same hardcore consumers doesn't promote growth. As the consumer saying goes, line must go up after all.
October 29, 2025 at 2:27 PM
Exactly! 3rd party F2P and GAAS games are mostly what's being played according to your monthly top 20 most games played... sans new exclusive/3rd party releases. Those are the users I believe MS is after. I just think it seems to be a bit too proactive at the moment. I don't think it is personally.
October 29, 2025 at 2:25 PM
Fair point for sure. I just think with the trend of how Gen-Z and Alpha view gaming these days, by not caring about consoles and exclusives and mostly social media, it presents a possible shift that I don't think anyone is expecting.

It's strange that the insane amount of money being invested in AI hasn't yielded any profits, but companies keep continuing to literally circle jerk it. Money is just being handed out in a circle amongst a set amount of corpos and nothing has come from it. But they keep throwing money at it, haha!
October 29, 2025 at 2:14 PM
Yep, that's what Booty was saying in his interview with the NYT. Time is the currency at play here and MS knows that if they can't take that time away from Tik Tok and other social media platforms, there won't be any revenue to speak of.
October 29, 2025 at 2:09 PM
Yeah, that's for sure. Last time I recall, about 40% of users this gen still had a PS4 and haven't upgraded. That number is likely to be smaller, but you're probably right about them supporting PS5 for a while during 10th gen.
October 22, 2025 at 11:38 PM
Yeah, fair enough as they post those financial results every single quarter, so I can get behind that notion.
October 22, 2025 at 11:35 PM
Seems so, though one can argue that there's very little growth for Sony and its PS5 consoles overall. Likely not what Sony wants to see.
October 22, 2025 at 10:36 PM
I was actually going to say it's likely due to console certification which takes quite a bit of time. All good Night Dive! Do what is necessary to get the game released on all platforms. Game looks great!

Owww man, but all good. I look forward to it! You guys do some damn good work! Also, gotta support my Canadian brethren! 👍🏾
April 20, 2025 at 3:46 PM
You guys are gonna review it, yeah?

Yep, I'm here too! 😆

And people say that 9th generation is good? Seriously, this is the worst the industry has ever been.
February 25, 2025 at 7:13 PM
That's a mess? Sheesh!
February 25, 2025 at 1:17 PM
Sure, there's no way we know what projects she's been involved in (though one could deduce all since she ran the entire thing), we DO know that while she's been at the helm, Star Wars hasn't been great overall. Hopefully someone passionate about Star Wars takes her place.

Games have always been the motivator and key to profit for a platform, not the console. Consoles count for very little profit in the grand scheme of it all. This has always been a thing since the beginning. Consoles we're just the vehicle and while consoles are necessary, they're not a necessity.
January 25, 2025 at 3:10 AM
Oh absolutely. The business model of the 90s isn't sustainable any longer. Exclusivity can't always pay the bills and diversification is the way to mitigate the high costs. It's why Nintendo is on mobile and Sony is on PC. I have a feeling Nintendo will follow suit at some point.
January 25, 2025 at 2:50 AM
Should be interesting to see what happens. Funny thing is, games have always been the motivator for consumers to invest. Games are the things that make the profit, not consoles. MS is just leaning into it further which is cool. We'll see what happens!
