How do you shoot the sun like this? Do you need a ND filter/or is the sun not too strong when you are taking the photo?

Not 100% sure, but I think they mainly just waddle around. That's what the colt was doing when I was there. The parents were very protective and basically covered the colt on both sides most of the time; but I am not sure Sandhill Cranes do that.
