More children die from denying insurance claims than do from shootings. Don't change the subject.

Nice. Hope there isn't one in Andromeda, or we will expire slightly sooner than when our species dies out in 3 billion years.

Yeah he gives off major Dan Lazare vibes to me, but even though PAS doesn't exist here in NL I think I should understand their appeal to uni students and how it differs from Trot sect ultraleftism.

Thanks for writing, food for thought, though I'm still unsure whether to bother reading Cutrone as he mostly seems to be the US left its problem. 😁
Small point: strata is already the plural form of stratum, so stratas is unnecessary.

(And that's not mentioning that prophets introduce fragility because they are single points of failure.)
So no, we don't need prophecy and prophets, we need organizations able and willing to learn, who make plans and then reflect on how they work, while believing in their mission and method.

it's also caused a shitload of problems because it implies an argument from authority which bites later movements in the ass after the prophecy failed and there is no possibility for learning "because the prophet has special access to the truth [quod non] so we can't doubt him."

You can get a criminal record for feeding a politician?

Yeah just imagine Come and See except not made in 1985 but livestreamed by proud members of the SS death squads themselves. Such a bizarre time to be alive.

oh, I hadn't seen google's attempt at AI yet. How did they allow this to go live?

I think part of it is that it's deliberately been programmed to answer in a liberal wonky bureaucratic manner, which holds the center between mansplainer and prolix blowhard because it's completely opaque about what it's basing itself on.

It's not my home turf but isn't throwing Jews who don't contribute to the Zionist project under the bus (and even lobbying to ensure they are denied asylum in the UK and US in the 1930s and 40s) pretty much par for the course?

The availability of nigh infinite mechanical energy coupled with a strategy that was overreliant on the availability of easily organizable swathes of industrial workers really seems to have done a number on our plans, because (just like malthus) we didn't really game this out, not even post 1945.

I mean I'd be mildly nervous to come on because I've seen / gotten so little response to it yet and I keep wondering if I'm insane but I'd love to. (:

.. but it's a fairly big part of the motivation why I wrote cosmonautmag.com/2024/02/on-c..., as I thought it was important to clarify why I think this is all tied together and at the same time largely ignored by the movements of the part century except in the margins, enabled by shitty theorizing.
On Capitalism and Class Rule: Moving Beyond the “PMC Debate
Using recent debates over the role of the professional managerial class as a foil, Foppe de Haan argues that in order for the communist movement to transcend the failures of the past, it must go beyon...

Quite agree w/ Jules that we should be paying more attention to issues of kinship and how we engage w/ young humans (and I agree w/ Marshall Rosenberg that the category of 'child' -- introduced during industrialization -- is an important part of the problem). Yet to find time to explore that further
