All this beautiful, historical artisanship destroyed. The building, the virtually irreplaceable quartersawn hardwood, the herringbone tiling, the marble, the Kennedy Garden. All destroyed 😞

All this beautiful artisanship destroyed. Historical societies everywhere will be devastated 😞

Unlikely. It would have taken months to take out and salvage just the hardwood.

Oh, and if you were really going to visit Rhyl but changed your mind, keep it to yourself!

Thiel talked about Carl Schmitt being one of his ideological heroes that forms part of his core beliefs. Why do we treat anything he says as anything more than utter nonsense?

We may as well say that billionaires are a bunch of shallow, credulous idiots at this point.
October 11, 2025 at 1:19 AM
Peter Thiel just casually admits that Carl Schmitt - CARL SCHMITT - is one of the most important influences to his core beliefs and we’re just expected to continue like Nazi ideology is totally normal and reasonable? WTF are we even doing here?

We need to take *our* war memorial back. It doesn’t belong to Brendan Nelson and his ilk with their one-eyed view of Australian military history. It should have a clear truth-telling focus and include a significant Frontiers War exhibit. It’s time to clean out the AWM.

Well, that was certainly a sobering read

In Sydney local councils erect giant offensively coloured signs in front of properties that chop down or poison trees to create views of the harbour/ocean. Another method is putting in shipping containers and painting them.

Almost a fifth of swing voters in battleground states think Biden got rid of Roe. I’d bet a lot of them also think Covid only happened under Biden. Many voters are just… 🤷‍♀️

The Gillard govt had a specific policy to raise the number of low-ses students getting into and graduating from uni through demand-driven funding. The target was 20% of offers being made to and accepted by low-ses students by 2020. They were doing pretty well but Abbott basically killed it in 2017.
July 14, 2025 at 12:39 PM
I mean, nearly 20% of voters in swing states blamed Biden for the end of Roe FFS. Republicans built an entire information ecosystem based on lies while Dems relied on the NYT and WaPo to get the word out. That has worked just swell 😑😒

Productivity growth through AI growth is code for job losses. Companies are telling employees to get with the AI program and use it to work faster and do more. It is especially noticeable at entry level positions.

My god this is cringeworthy stuff. Space tourism really is just another one of those dystopian things we can tick off for the 21st century 😒
