With another nod, Milo stood back up and shuffled his way back to his room. “‘M not hungry. Just gonna go to bed.” He glanced nervously at his father. “Love you, Dad.” Izzy smiled, a soft thing that he reserved solely for his son. “I love you too, duckie.” He reached out to squeeze Milo's arm gently, a silent nod of understanding. “I'll put your plate in the fridge if you change your mind.” Izzy watched his son leave, listened for the click of the door closing, and waited until after he'd cleaned up the kitchen before he let himself cry.

“I don't think he wants me to know.” When he found what he was looking for, Milo's voice was quiet and uncertain. His big eyes were watery, and he was pulling at his bottom lip with his teeth. On his lap, he continually tugged at his intertwined fingers. They were dry, and the skin around his knuckles was starting to crack. “Every time I ask him about my other dad, he gets that cock in the cookie jar look.” Stede's face scrunched and he flickered his gaze over to watch Izzy turn bright red and drop a stack of paper to-go cups. He disappeared below the counter. “The what-in-the-what look?” Stede finally said. “It's like getting caught stealing cookies out the container, but it's one step worse ‘cause it's your dick.” Milo's crass vocabulary still occasionally threw Stede off of his equilibrium. “Uncle Ed taught it to me.” A bang and a pained grunt sounded from under the till countertop.

happy #wipwednesday to my Stizzy fic where Izzy and Stede hook up at a Uni party and then don't see each other for 17 years. And now Izzy has a teenager in tow...
“You wanna fuck?” It was the casualness of it that made Stede double take and splutter before landing on: “Excuse me?!” He watched Izzy roll his eyes. “I have no fucking interest in whatever is happening down there, I’m bored, I can’t sleep, a fuck gets me to sleep.” He shrugged and sniffed. “And fucking virgins like you get me going, for my fucking sins.” He huffed and mockingly crossed himself. Stede whimpered. Izzy’s eyes widened, a grin curled his lips. “You actually are a virgin aren’t you?” He pushed forward, pressing up against Stede’s front to get his lips as close to the other’s without actually touching. Izzy slithered a hand up to grab at Stede’s knitted vest (who wore that shit to a house party?) and gave a little tug. Stede folded. “Don’t embarrass me this time, Dad, please.” The voice that followed made Stede’s stomach drop out from under him. “I’m not going to embarrass you, I’m checking if the fucking fully grown man talking to my kid all the time is a weirdo or not. Sue me for wanting to fucking protect you!” It was lower than it had been, definitely, but the rasp was the same. Stede was suddenly flung back in time to university, lying on his back looking up at the most beautiful man he’d ever seen. His eyes ballooned.

Frustratingly, while Lucius was off hobnobbing with artists and producers and the like, Stede was back on tour after leaving Dolly. Granted, as his name was getting more traction in the right circles, he’d managed to swing a lead from the off. Jean-Michel was a fun character, and La Cages aux Folles was a dream to be in, but Stede still itched for proper Broadway boards. He wanted to go to the same theatre every night, feel the energy of the cast fill up the building night after night, hear the murmur of the audience as they filed into the seats chattering about everything and anything. He wanted to feel the theatre come alive. Stede was going to make it to Broadway. And he was determined to do it before Lucius actually managed to sleep with Raúl Esparza, like he kept trying to. A phone call that Stede answered, heavily hungover, on a random Thursday, saved Mr. Esparza from any further flirting from a certain artist. Stede had been hearing rumours about the show for ages, years possibly. A production of Legally Blonde where Elle would be played by a man. Stede could feel himself becoming blonder the second he’d first heard the whispers. The show had been one of his favourites since it had first opened, and if he could even stand next to the cast he’d be thrilled. So imagine the heart-stuttering reaction he had to his agent calling to say that a certain role had been offered to him. Offered! To him! Lucius had sworn incredibly loudly when he’d discovered his best friend was about to make history as El Woods in Brodway’s first gay production of Legally Blond. He had sworn even louder when they found out just who was going to be playing Emmett.

what better way to begin on this app than by posting the #stizzy modern au wip that I always forget I started. It's bubble tea based, for some reason. #ofmd
There was a middle aged man making Stede his bubble tea today. Stede immediately internally chastised himself for thinking that was a strange sight because he was, in fact, a middle aged man buying said boba. But it was his end of week treat, a pick me up after another seemingly endless slog of work at his father's firm. If getting his weekly Mango Tango (jasmine green tea with mango, orange, and peach), meant he had to receive sceptical side-eyes from the most eclectic (and hottest, his PA Lucius swears there must be something in the staff only tap water) collection of workers he'd yet to meet, then so be it. This man, though, was hardly eclectic. The combination of his perpetual frown and tightly wound body gave him an aura of someone who was not to be trifled with. He was wearing a faded t-shirt advertising some sort of festival, stretching tightly over a built up chest, under a dark cardigan that he'd pushed the sleeves of up to his elbows. Stede flicked his gaze down behind the counter for a second and saw black carpenter jeans, sturdy denim with a small carabiner carrying various keys dangling from a belt loop. The outfit was finished off with a pair of heavy boots. Stede hummed to himself. The clothes were a far cry from the usually colourful cast of characters he'd come across in the shop before. He couldn't avoid watching the man as he shed his cardigan, moving to pick up the shaker and forgoing the machine to mix the drink himself. Stede found himself worried that he might need to subtly rearrange himself in his trousers as he watched the man’s biceps and forearms work in rhythm. It both lasted far too long and ended far too quickly. Stede swallowed thickly.
