Shazam, but for songs heard in dreams.
Bad Moonlight was a better story with a much messier execution. It read like a rough draft to me. But Good Night Kiss 2 is probably the worst of the 40-something Fear Street books I’ve read so far. None of them are good lol. I’m making distinctions from a purely technical standpoint.

Yeah it’s not winning any Pulitzers or anything. But comparing it to Goodnight Kiss 2 and Bad Moonlight (2 of the more recent Super Chillers I’ve read) it was a relief to at least have that.

Maybe it’s me picking up on the fact that Stine wrote it himself vs a ghost writer. Characterization was terrible, but the writing quality/plotting was on par with a book Stine activated about vs phoned in.

I’ll check it out! But yeah, she was too bad to be plausible here. The only thing that kept it fun was that you could tell Stine enjoyed writing it. I’ve read enough with him going through the motions to at least find joy in the small things like that.

I’m gonna use the additional time I’ll have to write more weird horror, so I’m hoping to channel some of the same energy into that.

Awww thanks for sharing 😊

I don’t disagree. It was just too out of left field at the very end, and I thought the book wasted a lot of time getting to that part.

It could be that because I read them in order, I was fresh off of some real disappointments (Basement, Monster Blood, and Say Cheese). But I stand by my rating. I found it was a nice change from the suburban setting 🙃

I will say this about Piano Lessons; the ending was batshit and makes no sense, but I’m lowkey obsessed with Mr Tuggle.

A mechanical genius who opens a paint school run by robots in order to murder children and steal their hands. I admire his level of commitment, even if his logic is baffling.

Hated the first living Dummy book but I thought the first Mummy’s Tomb book was really fun. You will definitely disagree on how high I’ve placed it lol.

I stand by it 🙃

I’d rank it the best of the Monster Blood books… but Ive hated all of the Monster Blood books. I think they all rank in my bottom 10 for the whole series. For me, Go Eat Worms is the worst of them by far.

I have low expectations for Monster Blood IV.
