The sky was black as another snow storm was about to hit but the sun shone through and lit up the ripples of the sund under the water.

I was trying to capture a minimalist landscape with this image.

The Larick Beacon

Found in the Firth Of Tay, this old, unused beacon was built in 1845 or 48 it was in use until the 1960s.

I loved how its reflection made its legs taper into the water so couldnt resist a shot.

"Srepping Stones".

The ruins of Findlater Castle may become famous soon as this location is in Christopher Nolan's next film, "The Odyssey".

For this shot I had to wait for low tide, jump from rock to rock, and get back before I was cut off.

The sunrise gently blushes the underside of the clouds as the remains of an old ship builder's slipway are exposed by the low tide at Aberdeen Harbour.

f16 25 sec ISO 100 The low tide at Aberdeen Harbour exposes the 100 year old remains of a slipway that was used by the "John Duthie Torry Shipbuilding Company," which was in use from 1904 to 1925. The Duthie family were prominent shipbuilders in Aberdeen and had been building ships there since 1816. On the horizon stands the mouth of Aberdeen Harbour, its mouth open between its protective sea walls with its buildings to the left, including the modern ",Marine Operations Centre" that belies the fact that "The Port Of Aberdeen" is Britains oldest existing business with it being established in 1136 by King David of Scotland. Above the horizon, the light of the rising sun is gently kissing the underside of the clouds, giving them a subtle colour. The texture of the clouds is contrasted by the water which is smoothed out by a 25 second exposure.

Last week I spent 5 days in the Kingdom of Fife and took many images which I hope to share soon.

Here is a panoramic view of St Andrews which I took during the "Blue Hour" .

The right of the image is where St Andrews Castle is located. A long exposure has smoothed out the water which is in contrast to the textured clouds, which frames the top of the image

Rum At Sunset

I loved the colour contrast in this scene so just had to shoot it.
Those warm hues clashing with the cold blues as the day diminished was stunning to witness.

Cadhla, has done amazing with her exams and got accepted to Uni and Iona has just completed her first year of college and starting her HND in "Digital Communications" this year.

They have both worked bloody hard ti get where they are

"The Monoliths Of Arbroath"

These are the foundations of a jetty or wall that was never completed at Arbroath Harbour.

At high tide, I thought they'd make an interesting subject to shoot.

The Tall Ships Race cane to Aberdeen last week (and will be here until the 22nd).

Tis is the "Fryderyck Chopin", last years winner and this year's race leader, being led into Aberdeen Harbour by a dolphin.

You'll need to zoom in to see the dolphin.

I spent a morning at "Bullers Of Buchan" in North East #Scotland to see the Puffins who never disappoint.

Its been a while since I posted a new image as life has been getting in the way of pleasure.

This is the wreck of "The Excelsior" which ran aground in North East #Scotland in 1881.
All 12 crew were saved

The timbers of a boat wreck protrude from the water like the rotton teath of a long dead sea creature. The texture of the algea covered wood contrasts against the smooth blue water. The wreck is curved like a jawbone from left to right. The horizon divides the image in half, the upper section filled with blurred clouds that shows their movement during the long exposure of the image. Details of the wreck: "The Excelsior" was a Norwegian barque, which ran aground near Rattray Head in Scotland on November 22, 1881. The ship was carrying a cargo of phosphate rock from Coosaw River, South Carolina to Bo'ness (Falkirk, Scotland). The 12-member crew, along with a pilot, were all rescued.
