I wasn’t justifying a 50-year mortgage, just said that as it relates to retirement, my motivation isn’t exclusively about whether I have a payment or not. The big issues for me are liquidity and opportunity cost. I have a 30yr at 2.5%, I will NEVER make an extra principal payment on that.
