The sheer amount of work needed to make holes in glacial till cannot be underestimated. Even with a tractor and a posthole digger, 89 holes and the raising of the poles proved a formidable challenge.

In calculating the area of our irregular food forest, I used Heron’s equation to calculate the area of the oblique triangle. Always humbling to realize discoveries like this were invented so long ago. Heron’s was discovered circa 62 C.E.
