As we look back on World Oceans Day, remember: our fossil fuel combustion adds about 14 zettajoules of extra heat to the oceans every year. Mankind’s entire energy production is only half a zettajoule.

The federal government is moving to take over the California National Guard and deploy 2,000 soldiers.

That move is purposefully inflammatory and will only escalate tensions.

It's been a rough few months made up of a seemingly endless series of rough days. But at least today we learned that Dan Bongino fucking hates the job he never should have been given, so that's nice.

I feel like we need to form a League of Relatively Normal People, and our agenda should be things like:

--Canada's cool, leave them be
--Lot of smart people at universities, that's a plus
--We're scared of getting cancer, so let's research it
--Fewer floods and wildfires would be nice

This feels like a sort of carnival-week funeral for the US republic. Beneath deep anger at Trump's orgy of vandalism and self-worship, I feel deep sadness. What a train wreck of a superpower.
