Given he's the man who made racism socially acceptable again, I don't think it'll make much difference. Russia/ traitor etc is a far better line of attack.

I'm late 50s, always voted Labour, but unless something dramatically changes, won't be at the next election. All the polling data I've seen shows the biggest threat to labour is from the greens/ lib dems, so I can't understand why they're going down this road of far right appeasement.

Btw Jane's Addiction for £2 was my best gig. Never paid more than £40 for a ticket, until this summer when I paid £250 ( x2) for LDR at Wembley. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I do it again. Not sure.

I can recall an interview with Metallicas manager about when they first pushed tickets up to 50 dollars, and we're surprised by how little pushback, then 80, then 100+, and again no real push back. I think the horse has bolted though, and a small venue tax is about as good as we're going to get.

All these right wingers are in favour of free speech until you ask them about their Russian connections.

Putin will be pleased with his investment in Farage etc

I was actually watching the live stream on Saturday.. I wonder how many people were, can't have been more than a few thousand? Anyone know the figures?

I went to Glastonbury 8 times, and only had a mobile for the last one.. I wonder if people interact less now.. when you lose your mates, you can call them, whereas before you ended up chatting to other folk who were in a similar situation.

Surprisingly good article highlighting the variety of Sheffields venues (I thought it was going to be another leadmill propaganda piece..)

Standard wisdom ( ie Bob Stanley) says the Doors were popular/ name checked until this film came out. I'm with Stone on this one though..

Disappointed that there wasn't much focus on the coordinated attack on anyone who speaks out about Palestine. Interestingly, a cursory Google would have revealed ( disgraced) Tory MP Mark Francois's throat slitting gesture during the Brexit debates, which seems to have been ignored by the media.

Life has been shit and neither Labour or Tories have done anything about it. Personally I think Farage is a chancer at best, and traitor at worst. I'm amazed the main parties haven't targeted him more.

Worth remembering that Mark Francois did a slit throat gesture during the Brexit debates.. not sure he ever apologised for that.

It was an amazing night.. I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot.. great that the format meant you could have a proper two way conversation with Melissa rather than the standard book launch interview. Thanks to you both.

Portillo reruns being on 27 channels on any given day ( well, it feels like it) probably skew the stats. But what would Bradshaw say?

Just noticed they played Sheffield city hall on that tour. I put Budgie on about 12 years later in Sheffield, and they played to about 150 people.. nostalgia wasn't as big a thing as it is today.

"People think it's funny, but it's really hot and runny.." Can anyone else remember the rest of the school yard classic?

Parts of it were filmed just a few streets from where I live.. I think 1970s Sheffield had the right amount of grimness

Starmer needs to take robust measures against Russian supporters. Maybe traditional methods might be too extreme. But I'm amazed Labour haven't focused on Farages questionable connections.. it's an open goal.
